IPAF Training in the South East
As a fully accredited member of the IPAF, SEPS is able to offer full theoretical and practical training at our base in Ringmer, East Sussex to both new platform operators and those who might simply need a refresher.
The IPAF – that’s the International Powered Access Federation – has developed their training programme to ensure that those who pass it are properly equipped and comfortable working with elevated working platforms.
Over 100,000 people from all over the world complete IPAF training each year.

We’ve a dedicated training centre at our headquarters for classroom learning, as well as the opportunity to get some hands-on practical experience with our state-of-the-art range of vehicles.
You’ll receive guidance from our expert trainers, all of whom are Competent Assessed Persons with an in-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and legislation.
They’ll help you learn how to:
- Easily identify different types of MEWPs, and how to operate them safely;
- Be aware of the need for personal protection equipment;
- Set up the MEWPs and conduct pre-use checks & inspections;
- Route plan and drive the MEWPs in a responsible manner;
- Use operational best practice, including use of fall safety equipment;
- Know when to refer to the manual
By successfully completing the course you’ll be fully versed on heath & safety and accident prevention, while also being able to competently operate the relevant machinery.
Courses are split based on the types of machinery you might use, and you can mix-and-match to make sure you get the training that’s relevant to your daily workload:

MEWPs for Managers (MM)
This one day management training course covers what managers need to know when it comes to using MEWPs on a site.
This course isn’t about operating the machinery itself – rather, it’s for site managers, supervisors, and foremen who oversee projects.
By taking this course you’ll learn how to plan a job from end to end, including knowing your legal requirements, doing a comprehensive risk assessments, and selecting the right machines for the job in hand.
Once you’ve finished your training you’ll be awarded with a Powered Access Licence (PAL) Card.
Valid for five years, the PAL Card lists below your name and photo precisely which training courses you’ve completed.
